Police have named people who died last week in a road traffic accident involving three vehicles along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.
This accident involved a Yutong bus, a Toyota Aqua and a Toyota Dyna truck at the 175km peg.
It occurred on September 12, 2025 at around 2.45am.
Seven people died and 15 others were injured after a Yutong bus with 48 passengers on board travelling to Beitbridge collided head-on with a Toyota Aqua, which had five passengers on board and a Toyota Dyna truck with two occupants, also travelling towards Masvingo.
As a result of the crash, two passengers from the bus, three occupants from the Toyota Aqua (including the driver) and two occupants from the Toyota Dyna (including the driver) died on the spot, while 13 passengers from the bus and two passengers from the Toyota Aqua were injured.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi issued the statement on X.
They are Leopold Mudiwakure (43), a male adult of Waterfalls, Harare, (Toyota Aqua driver), Fortune Eddington Chitsaka (21), a male adult of Waterfalls, Harare, Sithembiso Bhegedhe, a female adult of Waterfalls, Harare, Danson Chidewu, a male adult of Unit 3, Seke, Chitungwiza. (Toyota Dyna truck driver), Martin Mazhata (41), a male adult of Vembe, Village, Chief Chaminuka, Gweru, and Takudzwa Masanganise (35), a male adult of Zowa Farm, Zvimba.
One of the victims, a male adult, who was a passenger in the Toyota Dyna truck, is yet to be identified and the body is at Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
