Police question 3 Cottco officials

inputs and an undisclosed amount of money.
The company’s operations director Jefta Chindanya and two others were last week questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Serious Frauds in connection with the case.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena, confirmed the case and said investigations were in progress.
“They were called in for questioning in connection with a contract entered into between Cottco and a number of companies on the basis that those companies had contracted farmers to grow cotton and had given them inputs,” he said.
Snr Asst Comm Bvudzijena said Cottco was supposed to buy that cotton and sell it.
He said the contracted companies had notprovided any inputs to these farmers as stated in the contract entered into.
“We are trying to investigating as we believe that there is total prejudice as a result of the contract. At the moment there is nothing substantive as yet. Investigations are still in progress,” Snr Asst Comm Bvudzijena said.
