The Zimbabwe Republic Police has indicated that it will soon include names and addresses of traffic offenders identified through its Electronic Traffic Management System (ETMS), when it releases another batch of suspected road regulations violators.

On Tuesday, police released registration numbers of 290 vehicles suspected to have violated traffic rules and picked through the ETMS.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi indicated that owners of about 30 of the 290 suspected offenders have contacted their stations following the publication.

“Police have intensified the operation to identify traffic offenders. This time we will publish the registration numbers, names of vehicle owners, their addresses and places where they were captured on videos committing the offences,” he said.

“This will send a clear message to show that we are now more than serious about curbing road rule violations.”

Comm Nyathi urged transporters to play their role in curbing violations.

He revealed that about 6 092 commuter omnibus (mushika-shika) have been arrested so far for various offences.
