THREE police officers have joined the growing list of suspects who are fingered in the US$700k Quest Financial Services theft saga.

The trio allegedly stole from the two security guards, who stole US$53 000 from the crime scene, soon after the robbery.

The two guards – Cornelius Muchikangwe and Nesbert Kachungwe – have already been jailed.

The three police officers – Since Asima, Weston Muzoriwa and Perseverance Chisango – appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi where the State successfully applied for a warrant for further detention as the police intend to finalise investigations before they are formally placed on remand.

The trio will be back in court on Friday.

They are facing criminal abuse of duty charges.

Allegations are that on Wednesday last week, the trio, together with their suspected accomplices who are still at large, received information that Muchikange and Kachungwe committed a crime of theft at Quest Financial Services on February 25.

They arrested the two and recovered cash amounting to US$22 000.

They then released the two and shared the cash among themselves.
