Speaking at the Cottco Cop of the Quarter Awards in Harare yesterday, Assistant Commissioner Obert Benge said the force should defend the country.
A total of 17 cops were honoured for their commitment and good work and walked away with certificates, food hampers and money.
Asst Comm Benge said the police needed to work extra hard and soldier on in the face of adversities.
“Although it is appreciated that a period of adversity is one in which conditions are unfavourable or unfortunate, we are all happy that the Support Unit is not deterred, but committed to soldier on in the face of difficulties,” he said. “After all, no wave, however strong, will wipe our prowess as a Unit. I encourage all to continue nurturing yourselves so as to serve the nation with dissimilarity.”
Asst Comm Benge encouraged team work among the police force regardless of one’s gender.
