ZANU PF will convene a crucial Politburo meeting today, party spokesperson, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, has said.
In a statement, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said: “The Secretary General, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, advises members of the Politburo meeting to be held this Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 10:00 hours. The meeting shall be held at the party headquarters”.
All Politburo members have been instructed to be seated by 09:45 sharp, underscoring the party’s emphasis on discipline and punctuality as core values of the revolutionary movement.
The Politburo meeting takes place against the backdrop of advancing Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 of 2026, which the Government recently gazetted.
The Bill, which aligns with Resolution 1 made at consecutive ZANU PF Conferences last year and in 2024, proposes extending the Presidential term from five to seven years and introducing a parliamentary process for Presidential elections.
Today’s meeting follows a two-day strategic seminar held for Politburo members earlier this month at the Museum of African Liberation, where President Mnangagwa challenged the party’s highest decision-making organ to embrace “disciplined, ideologically grounded and results-oriented leadership”.
At that seminar, the President also reminded members that “ideological clarity is not optional, but the lifeblood of our colossal movement,” warning against retrogressive political vices that threaten party discipline and the gains of the revolution.
