Government remains committed to consolidating political openness whose objective is to re-engage with the rest of the world, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Dr Sibusiso Moyo has said.
He said this on Wednesday during the United States of America 243rd independence anniversary in Harare.
“As we forge ahead with this thrust, I call upon your Government to join us in this conversation of re-engagement based on mutual trust,” said Dr Moyo.
He explained that during the just ended US-Africa summit in Maputo, Mozambique, the Zimbabwe delegation led by President Mnangagwa had a “very positive engagement” with US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Ambassador Tibor Nagy.
Dr Moyo said the discussion with Ambassador Nagy “stands out as a true testimony” that Government attaches importance in establishing good relations with the US.
“The Government of Zimbabwe comes on high level confidence and not only playing an important role in building confidence and trust between Zimbabwe and its development partners, but also in the United States of America’s appreciation and recognition of the wide array of political and economic reforms which we are currently implementing.”
