Police are hunting for a man believed to have been the mastermind of political violence incidents that rocked the country between January and April this year.
Amon Sianzovu is alleged to have attended unsanctioned political meeting and hosted some at his home. In these meetings, MDC supporters made plans to discredit the government by unleashing a reign of terror that they blamed on Zanu PF supporters.
Sianzovu and other MDC supporters are alleged to have targeted Zanu PF supporters who reside in Bulawayo’s urban areas.
Their plan was to carry out acts of violence and blame them on Zanu PF supports.
The MDC denies the allegations and says Zanu PF supporters are the ones targeting MDC supporters. The opposition went on to say some of the its supporters have slipped out of the country as they fear reprisals.
The whereabouts of Sianzovu are unknown and he is believed to have gone into hiding. Some are convinced he has skipped the country.
It is also believed that the violence strategy is sponsored by MDC aligned NGOs and some western embassies bent on removing the democratically elected government.
