The move to create an additional fixtures secretary post follows the creation of a lower division in the game that will accommodate teams relegated from the Premiership last season.
In an interview yesterday the BPA chairperson Samson Bhuza said his committee will press for the amendment during the association’s annual general meeting this weekend.
The annual general meeting which is set to draw more than 600 delegates from the league will be held on Saturday at Raylton Recreation Club starting at midday.
“Due to the creation of a lower division, we, as a committee, have seen it fit to create an extra fixtures secretary post to deal with fixtures from Division One so that we have one secretary dealing with each of the two leagues,” said Bhuza.
He said the development will see the executive posts increasing from 14 members to 15.
He also took the opportunity to clear the air with regards to the election of a new executive by pointing out that all registered players will be entitled to vote and not just three as had been previously communicated.
“Every registered player present at the AGM will have a voting right so we will first of all check with our register,” he said.
Bhuza said he will not be seeking re-election as he felt the association needed fresh ideas.
He paid tribute to the association for lifting the game to professional levels.
Bhuza said the elections will be the highlight of the meeting which will see the adoption of the reports from the chairman and treasurer.
He said after the meeting the association will hold its traditional annual tournament which signals the start of the pool season as well as the awards ceremony.
Kings, who won the 2011 league, will walk away with a cash prize of $750, a floating shield as well as 20 gold medals.
Raylton, who came second, will settle for $550 cash together with 20 silver medals.
Third-placed Exchange will take away $400 and 20 bronze medals for their efforts.
