Pool league in thick of things

THE Bulawayo Pool League (BPL) entered its eighth week of competition on Saturday with West Comm continuing with their dominance. BPL publicity secretary Donald Wadawu said the league was now at its peak with no team guaranteed of an easy win.

“West Comm continues to put up an impressive performance as they haven’t conceded a loss this season. They’re a force to be reckoned with and if they continue on this path they’re sure to secure their chances of winning the league title. There were also some upsets with teams like Entumbane suffering their second defeat in a row. This shows you that things are now tough and there is no room for relaxation,” said Wadawu.

He said at this stage of the league any loss of points may result in a team jeopardising its chances in the title race.

“The league is now taking shape and teams that haven’t managed to garner enough points to secure a favourable position in the league are finding the fixtures hard. There is a lot of mental strength that goes into this game,” said Wadawu.

Results: Exchange 10-4 Dragons, Gold & Black 8-6 Tshabalala, Kings 11-3 Skittle Inn, Egodini 7-7 Ace, West Comm 8-6 Entumbane, Maison Nic 7-7 The Lounge, Double Punch 6-8 Raylton, ZRP Central v Golden Lions (postponed).
