Several musicians will take part at Makomo music festival to be held tomorrow in Hwange.
The festival will feature high-flying Zimdancehall artistes Killer T and Soul Jah Love, sungura maestro Alick Macheso, dendera crooner Suluman “Sulu” Chimbetu, man-of-the-moment Jah Prayzah and visiting Botswana artiste Charma Gal.
Show organiser, Eusabia Rayire, said the event was meant to provide Hwange residents with entertainment as well as celebrating Makomo Resources fifth anniversary.
“The festival is to celebrate every year added into the existence of Makomo Resources but above all it is for Hwange residents as well as others from nearby areas like Victoria Falls and Dete,” said Rayire.
A lot is expected at the festival as the line has star-studied musicians.
That will be a chance for sungura musician Macheso to give his fans in Hwange a chance to sample to some of his new songs.
Killer T who is regarded as the ‘chairman’ of the Zimdancehall will be performing in the resort town for the first time.
He will be giving dancehall fans songs from his new album ‘Ngoma Ndaimba’ that has taken the music industry by storm.
Hwange is home to the largest game reserve in the country, which attracts hordes of tourists every year. The visitors usually come for popular activities like game-viewing and trophy hunting.
But it is such kind of festivals that bring a new element of fun to Hwange residents as well as tourists. Most of country’s top musicians that are based in Harare rarely travel to Hwange and surrounding areas for gigs due to logistical nightmares.
