“AND he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” — Luke 18:1
These were the words spoken by Jesus in a parable, “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint”.
In the face of challenges, uncertainties and trials, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged.
We may be tempted to give up, throw in the towel and succumb to the weight of our burdens.
However, the message from Luke 18:1 compels us to do the opposite — to persist in prayer, to remain unwavering in our faith and to trust in the power of God’s intervention.
My dear brothers and sisters, I want to assure you that no matter what you are facing, be it financial struggles, health issues, broken relationships or any other form of adversity, do not give up praying.
Prayer is a powerful expression of faith. It is a declaration of our trust in God’s sovereignty and a recognition of His ability to transform our circumstances.
In the midst of our prayers, we may not always receive immediate answers or see instant changes. This is where the essence of persistence comes into play. We are reminded of the statement “Aluta continua (The struggle continues)”.
God urges us to persevere in our prayers, to remain steadfast in our faith and to trust that He will attend to our issues in His perfect timing.
Let us draw strength from the parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:2-8), who, through her perseverance, received justice from an unjust judge.
If an unjust judge can respond to persistence, how much more
will our loving and just God attend to our needs when we persist in prayer?
Today, I encourage you to hold fast to your faith, to pray without ceasing and to believe unwaveringly in the power of God to intervene in your life.
Do not let discouragement or doubt weaken your resolve. Instead, let the words of Luke 18:1 guide your actions, “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint”.
As we continue our journey, let us remember that through persistent prayer, our faith is strengthened, our spirits are uplifted and our lives are transformed.
May the power of persistent prayer bring peace, healing and breakthroughs to each one of us, now and forever more, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
