POWER (Poetry On Wednesday Extremely Reloaded) sessions is hosting a comedy and poetry show on Wednesday at the Bulawayo Public Library Hall.
The sessions started in 2023 and are held every last Wednesday of the month. A number of award winning poets like Sage M-One, Thaluso Da Poet, Godswill Muzarabani, Farirai the Golgotha Poet, Sox The Poet, Black Phar-I and Mjabulisi amongst others have performed in these sessions.
In an interview, the founder of Power Session Chengetai Sithole popularly known as Chester said their goal is to cater for spoken word artists.
“In this week’s line up, we have D’Juni, Sage M-ONE, Thaluso Da Poet, Black Phar-I, Chester, Bongo, Munashe, Tongai King and Tadiwa. The goal of the event is to cater for spoken word artists by giving them a platform to showcase their talents and to inspire the audience by giving them undiluted talent,” said Chester.
Chester said their motivation is in ensuring that all the different genres are given a platform.
“We are motivated by the talent in our city, the show is there to keep spoken word in action hence every artist is accommodated,” he said.
He said he sees Power sessions being a platform of growing and nurturing talent in the city.
“In the years to come, l believe that Power sessions will be the evolution of spoken word. It would be a base for spoken word artists and open to grooming and nurturing them,” said Chester.
