The Public Policy and Research Institute of Zimbabwe (PPRIZ) is set to host a policy conference in Bulawayo tomorrow, an event aimed at providing a platform to discuss how local authority procurement processes can be improved to ensure more efficient use of public resources for service delivery.
Running under the theme: “Towards Strengthening Local Government Procurement Processes for Improved Service Delivery”, the event will bring together stakeholders including the Government, local authorities, civil society, academia, and the business community.
PPRIZ said the conference will include the dissemination of findings from a seminal research study conducted by the organisation on the implications of procurement challenges in local authorities on the efficient use of public resources for service delivery.
“The conference is being held as part of PPRIZ’s Strengthening Policy Engagement through Evidence (SPEED) Project, whose goal is to promote evidence-based policymaking and enhance the responsiveness of policy processes to the needs of underrepresented groups in Zimbabwe,” said PPRIZ executive director Dr Gorden Moyo.
“The project seeks to foster more inclusive public policy engagement, policy uptake, and responsiveness, and support stakeholders, including academia, civil society, and citizens, to participate more effectively in public policy processes.”
PPRIZ is an autonomous public policy and research institute established in the year 2010 by a Deed of Trust.
