THE Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ), in partnership with the Zimbabwe Investment Development Authority (ZIDA), have joined hands to enhance transparency and ease of doing business, in accordance with law relating to public procurement.

Speaking at the Memorandum of Understanding signing between PRAZ and ZIDA, the partners assured that their engagement will be complementary. PRAZ chief executive, Clever Ruswa, said the partnership will go a long way to ensure ease of doing business.

“This collaboration will involve exchange of technical expertise, where necessary, during the course of executing the agencies’ respective mandates.

“Ordinarily, right now as we are approaching our stakeholders, be it the procuring entities or the building community, there are instances where we say probably this remains with ZIDA, probably this remains with PRAZ.

“It includes sharing information that enhances advisory services of ZIDA to procuring entities on issues of technical nature relating to Triple Ps (practice, practice, practice).

“It also entails implementing solutions to enhance ease of doing business,” said Ruswa.

He added:

“ZIDA and PRAZ are key in driving the national development agenda. Public procurement can be leveraged as a strategic socio-economic lever policy .

“The policy resonates with ZIDA’s strategic objective of accelerating Zimbabwe’s economic growth and improving ease and lower cost of doing business in Zimbabwe.

“Training will be conducted with the main target being jointly identified interest group programmes with special emphasis but not limited to procuring entities entering into Triple P’,” he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by ZIDA CEO, Duduzile Shinya, who also pledged to ensure there is transparency.

“Following this signing ceremony, we are excited that this will drive the national development agenda as public procurement can be leveraged as a strategic lever policy.

“Transparency will be enhanced as well as ease of doing business,” said Shinya.
