POLITICAL party leader, Parere Kunyenzura, of the Zimbabwe Transformative Political Party, and 33 other members of his party, appeared in court yesterday.
They are facing criminal nuisance charges following an unsanctioned gathering over the weekend.
Kunyenzura was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Stanford Mambanje, who remanded him to today for bail considerations.
The court heard that on July 9, at around midday, police from Harare Central were on patrol in the CBD when they received information that Kunyezura and his church members were walking, and singing, along Robert Mugabe Street.
In doing so, the group was blocking the pavements and the road.
They were all dressed in white, blue, red, yellow and green church regalia.
The police intercepted them and ordered them to stop singing and disperse.
Edson Shonhiwa, Victoria Changadzo and Jefta Takaedza, who were leading the group, refused to comply with the order and they were arrested.
Later that day other members of the church regrouped and were also arrested.
The other members are Simon Goshomi, Richard Mhurushomana, Fortune Chapeyama, Prince Mukozho, Solomon Duwa, Shongai Mushinje, Noah Dabvu, Jasper Muringanidza, Honoured Mutangadura, Shepherd Mutsonhi, Edson Shonhiwa, among others.
They were remanded in custody to today for bail considerations.
Netsai Mushayabasa appeared for the State.
