A 29-year-old man was yesterday arraigned before the courts for allegedly fondling the hips of a pregnant woman he was sitting next to in a commuter omnibus. Tonderai Sibanda appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Gladys Moyo charged with indecent assault. Sibanda denied the allegations and the matter was deferred to today for trial.
Allegations are that on March 2 around 10pm Sibanda and the woman were sitting next to each other in a commuter omnibus heading to Kuwadzana.
The court heard that Sibanda, who was supposedly reading a newspaper, concealed his hands under the newspaper and started caressing the woman’s hips.
It is alleged that when the woman asked Sibanda what he was doing, he laughed and asked the woman for her mobile number.
The woman refused and Sibanda started caressing the woman again, asking her not to say a word to anyone, it is alleged.
The woman asked the driver to escort her to the police where she reported the matter.
Mr Doubtful Mateo prosecuted.
