PREPARATIONS for the inaugural TM Supermarkets Challenge Cup pitting Highlanders and Dynamos are at an advanced stage with a few minor details left, an official has said.
The two giants are set to clash on September 6 at the giant National Sports Stadium, their fourth meeting so far this season.

The Glamour Boys have beaten Tshilamoya in all the encounters so far. In fact Highlanders are not only winless against Dynamos but they are also yet to score, having lost 2-0 in the Bob90 Cup before succumbing to identical 1-0 losses in the two league matches.

Premier Soccer League chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele confirmed that negotiations were on going and there was progress.

“We are yet to finalise on our negotiations.  There are a few things we need to sort out first. We have met with their top management and even though there are few loose ends that need to be tied I am happy to say that there is progress,” said Ndebele.

He said their thrust was to come up with a win-win situation for both parties, taking into consideration the view of the league’s main sponsors, Delta Beverages.

“Consultations were done with the 16 board of governors who gave us their input. We appreciate that this was not on the calendar but like I said we are trying to have a win-win situation given that our main sponsors had a calendar for their marketing activities,” said Ndebele.

The PSL  chief said they would have to engage the league sponsors over the matter but remained optimistic that all will be well at the end of the day.

The Big Brands Bargain Bonanza promotion was launched on July 17, 2014 and will run till September 6, 2014, the day of the final, clearly set to be a blockbuster of a match.

“Our proposed signature event that will mark the end of the promotion is the match between two of the biggest brands in local football, Highlanders and Dynamos,” Meikles financial director Onias Makamba was quoted saying last month.

The retail chain is believed to be planning to have gate charges pegged at $1 across all bays at the giant National Sports Stadium.
