LEGENDARY Highlanders goalkeeper Peter “Captain Oxo” Nkomo is set to bounce back into a national team coaching position after being appointed the women Under-20 and Under-23 national teams’ goalkeepers’ coach.
Nkomo, a cult hero during his goalkeeping days at Highlanders is in charge of the Bosso’s last man in defence department and will be part of a four-member technical team that will be headed by Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda. She is the head coach of the developmental sides.
Hwange’s Under-20 coach Mebelo Njekwa is set to assist Sibanda with long- serving servant of women football, Debra Green, coming in as the team manager.
While Zifa has seemingly been taking long to make public announcement of the assistant coaches after naming head coaches of various developmental sides last week, Chronicle Sport is in possession of the full list of coaches set to take charge of Zifa’s priority projects.

One of the country’s most qualified goalkeepers’ coaches, former Caps United goalie Richard Tswatswa will be in charge of the Under-20 men’s side.
FC Platinum juniors’ coach Jairos Tapera will be assisted by Bantu Rovers’ assistant coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu with the second assistant coming from the Nash structures.
Zifa are on record saying that their priority now was on junior development following the agony of watching the senior national teams failing to qualify for major football tournaments like the African Nations Cup and the World Cup.
