Preparations for the annual Bulawayo Sneakers Expo have commenced with the organisers of the event announcing that it will be held on 19 October.

The Bulawayo Sneakers Expo was established in 2021and it allows fashion and sneaker fans to take part at a gathering which also brings together collectors, suppliers and designers of fancy footwear, and head honchos in the sneakers business.

In its fourth edition, the Expo is meant to celebrate different footwear trends around the city. One of the organisers of the event, Davison “Diva” Feliate, said they have started preparations for the much anticipated event. He also revealed that they have managed to identify brand ambassadors who will help them in marketing the show.

“We don’t have a venue yet, but we have set a date for this year’s event which is 19 October. So we are basically looking for a venue which will be free on that date. If we fail to get it then we might be forced to change the date to a later one. We will keep people posted on social media.

“We have managed to identify the new Bulawayo Sneakers Expo brand ambassadors. We are proud to present Miyamiko Banda as our male brand ambassador. On the females’ side we managed to identify Roberta who is a sneaker head based in Harare for business and work-related reasons,” said Diva.

This year’s event is set to be different compared to the previous editions as it will desist from the usual routines of gigs, and celebrate fashion and footwear which is the core business of the Expo.

Diva further announced the return of On Feet Friday, a challenge that allows foot enthusiasts to post their footwear allowing them to stand a chance to win different gifts.

“We expect this year’s event to be different. We are running away from a concept of being another conventional gig whereby we will have headliners, artistes and DJs. We will have that as entertainment, but, we will have more activities to do with shoes and sneakers. We will have more exhibitors, more designers so as to constantly remind people that the event is about foot wear and fashion.

“On Foot Friday challenge is back again and this week it will be on week three. Those who want to participate in the challenge have to post footwear they will be wearing on Friday, tag us on their social media platforms. Last year, as the organisers we were the ones choosing the winners but this time around we have created a public pole on our Instagram page so that many people can vote for whoever they think deserves to win, either, tickets, the Bulawayo Sneakers Expo merchandise as well as sneakers,” said Diva.
