Speaking in an interview after the swearing in ceremony Justice Hlatshwayo said he was humbled by the appointment and pledged to carry out his work diligently.
“It is an appointment that I accept with humility because it is an appointment with public trust and is something to look forward to especially in light of the new constitution that is coming in.
“I am also hopeful it (new constitution) will usher in a new age of constitutionalism,” Justice Hlatshwayo said. Justice Patel was also delighted with his appointment.
“It is a wonderful day for me personally. I hope that both of us will add something to the Supreme Court especially with the new constitution coming,” he said.
Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Attorney General Johannes Tomana, Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku and other senior government officials also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
