LATEST: President arrives in Italy

The President is being accompanied by the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe together with their children and Minister of Justice Patrick Chinamasa
and Minister of Foreign Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and other top Government officials.

The President who is a Catholic will join several Heads of State and Government who are set to attend the inauguration mass that is set to
attract thousands of people and will be watched by millions on television.

Soon after his arrival, President Mugabe and the First Family were whisked to their hotel room.

President Mugabe visited the Vatican in 2011 for the beatification of the late Pope John Paul II. In 2005, he attended Pope John Paul II’s
funeral. President Mugabe was welcomed at the airport by Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Rome, Ms Mubi.
