President Mnangagwa will today headline a Zanu PF Strategic Seminar for Politburo members, as the party moves to strengthen internal co-ordination and strategic focus.
The meeting will be held at the Heritage Village in Harare, with President Mnangagwa, who is also the ruling party’s First Secretary, presiding over the opening ceremony.
Members are expected to deliberate on and implement resolutions that emerged from the Central Committee Strategic Seminar held last week at the Zanu PF Convention Centre in Gweru.
In an interview yesterday, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, said the strategic seminar is expected to translate broad policy direction into concrete programmes, rules, and actions.
“All Politburo members and their deputies are expected to attend the meeting without fail. The highest echelons of the Zanu PF leadership are returning to the School for Ideology.
“They are attending a maiden seminar designed to enhance their intellectual understanding of the significant socio-economic changes implemented by President Mnangagwa under the Second Republic,” said Ambassador Mutsvangwa.
Noting that the seminar serves as an intellectual retreat to reflect on successes, he said senior party members will also be able to learn from missed opportunities and analyse case studies of successful projects.
According to Ambassador Mutsvangwa, “the success recorded by Zanu PF in a variety of fields has fostered a new can-do ethos”.
“The poignant mantras of President Mnangagwa, including ‘Zimbabwe Is Open for Business’, ‘Vision 2030’, Nyika Inovakwa neVene Vayo and the commitment to ‘Leaving No One and No Place Behind’ have yielded successes.
“These initiatives provide a solid foundation to build upon, demonstrating effective strategies for advancing national development,” Ambassador Mutsvangwa said.
He added that President Mnangagwa is shifting his focus to the revolutionary intellectual tradition of Zanu PF to ensure that the party’s cadres are well-informed and up to speed.
Appointed by the First Secretary, President Mnangagwa, the Zanu PF Politburo meets regularly to enforce discipline, ensure unity, and oversee the execution of party directives across Government and grassroots structures.
The Gweru seminar reaffirmed the Central Committee’s role as the engine of party mobilisation and ideological clarity.
Delegates agreed on the urgent need to strengthen party unity, revive and activate thematic committees, and sharpen grassroots structures down to the cell level.
Emphasis was placed on discipline, loyalty, and consistent messaging as the party consolidates the gains of the Second Republic.
The seminar also resolved that cadres deployed in Government and Parliament must remain firmly guided by party ideology, prioritising service delivery and economic transformation in line with Vision 2030.
Cell verification and mobilisation were identified as critical tools for reconnecting leadership with the masses and reinforcing organisational strength.
This week’s Politburo session will therefore focus on operationalising the Gweru outcomes, assigning responsibilities, setting timelines, and monitoring mechanisms. It will also assess party unity, enforce discipline, and align Government programmes with party policy.
As the administrative and political nerve centre of the party, the Politburo’s deliberations are expected to translate Gweru’s resolutions into actionable programmes, ensuring continuity, coherence, and momentum as the party consolidates power and drives national development.
