President congratulates India

President Mnangagwa last week congratulated India after their spacecraft became the first to land on the unexplored south pole moon on Wednesday and made history by becoming the first to land in a commendable lunar exploration mission.

The Indian mission successfully touched down as planned on Wednesday evening amid huge celebrations from the Indians.

Last week President Mnangagwa congratulated the Indians on their milestone.

“Congratulations to the Republic of India on the successful moon landing of the Chandrayaan mission.

“Your achievement is a testament to human ingenuity and exploration,” said President Mnangagwa in a message left on his micro-blogging site Twitter handle. 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the landing by waving the Indian flag as he watched from South Africa where he was attending the BRICS summit.

“This moment is unforgettable. It is phenomenal. This is a victory cry of a new India,” said the Indian Prime Minister as quoted by the international media.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also reportedly sent his congratulatory message.

The landing coincides with the start of a lunar day.
