President gazettes Matanga appointment

President Mnangagwa has gazetted the appointment of Deputy Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga as the Acting Commissioner-General of Police. The announcement was made by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda in an Extraordinary Government Gazette published on Wednesday. “It is hereby notified that His Excellency the President, after consultation with the Minister of Home Affairs, is pleased in terms of Section 221 (1) as read with Section 340 (1)(c) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No.20) Act, 2013, hereby appoints Deputy Commissioner General Godwin Matanga as the Acting Commissioner-General of Police,” Dr Sibanda said.

Acting Commissioner-General Matanga was appointed on December 19 last year following the retirement of Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri, who had been in office since 2008.
