PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA has been praised as a hands-on and results-driven leader committed to improving the lives of Zimbabweans through Vision 2030.
Special Presidential Investment Adviser to the United Arab Emirates Dr Paul Tungwarara yesterday lauded the President’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling his promises, emphasising that his administration is actively implementing programmes that uplift all Zimbabweans, including war veterans.
Speaking at Gwengavi Primary School in Masvingo West during the launch of the US$150 000 War Veterans Presidential Fund for Masvingo province, Dr Tungwarara said the fund is expected to grow to US$1 million per province by June this year. The event drew a large crowd, including over 400 war veterans from across the province.
It also marked the unveiling of the Presidential War Veterans Borehole Drilling Programme and the Presidential War Veterans Housing Scheme.
“President Mnangagwa is a leader who delivers and that is why he should remain at the helm until 2030 to see through his vision. The President is a man of very few words, he is a practical man who just delivers,” said Dr Tungwarara.
“By June this year, every province’s fund will have risen to US$1 million from the current US$150 000 that is being given under the War Veterans Fund.”
He said 5 000 bicycles had been secured for war veterans across the country, with each province set to receive 500. At the launch, hundreds of bicycles were lined up for distribution.
Dr Tungwarara said in the spirit of leaving no one and no place behind, President Mnangagwa will soon launch a fund for youth and women empowerment projects to ensure that all Zimbabweans actively participate in achieving Vision 2030.
Speaking at the same event, ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans in the Politburo Cde Douglas Mahiya expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for prioritising war veterans’ welfare.
“We will not allow the President to turn down our request for him to abide by resolution number one — that he remain in office until 2030. Just like the way we brought independence in 1980, we will not allow the President to turn down the request to continue in office,” he said.
Cde Mahiya also reminded war veterans that ZANU PF remains supreme to Government structures and affiliate organisations, urging war veterans associations and the War Veterans League to remain subordinate to the party.
