Hatred Zenenga in Dubai, UAE
President Mnangagwa yesterday hailed the remarkable growth in trade between Zimbabwe and Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, where exports to the emerging Asian economy have now jumped to US$1,6 billion.
Addressing delegates here at an interactive business forum organised by the Zimbabwe Investment Agency, the President noted that the second largest trading partner with Zimbabwe was now the United Arab Emirates after South Africa.
“Zimbabwe and the UAE enjoy cordial relations and the relations are growing from strength to strength,” he said.
Under the Second Republic Zimbabwe is deriving tremendous mileage from Government’s engagement and re-engagement drive as interest in the country intensifies.
And since his arrival in Dubai on Sunday, President Mnangagwa has had a packed programme meeting different groups of business leaders as part of his drive to woo investors and grow Zimbabwe’s economy.
At yesterday’s oversubscribed business forum whose theme was “Creating partnerships for accelerated growth”, the vice president of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Hassan Al Hashemi thanked Zimbabwe for exposing his country to the huge investment potential in the southern African country.
Testimonials from two investors – Director of Albwardy Investments LLC (UAE) – Meikles Hotel Mr Laurie Ward and Dr Stuart Lake Non executive chairman of Invictus Energy Limited (Australia) Muzarabani Oils and Gas Project rated the Zimbabwe investment climate as excellent.
“There is something incredible about Zimbabwe. The people are special. We rate the country with a triple “A”. Firstly abundance of great assets, secondly availability of professionals and wonderful people, and lastly accessibility to all levels of Government,” said Mr Ward.
The President will tomorrow round up his three day visit to Dubai, whose pinnacle was yesterday’s Zimbabwe National Day at Expo 2020.
