Latest: President leaves for AU

He was accompanied by his daughter Bona, Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara and several Government officials.

President Mugabe was seen off at the Harare International Airport by Vice President Joice Mujuru, Defence Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Mischeck Sibanda, service chiefs and Government officials.

The AU’s 50th anniversary is set to be attended by all Heads of State and Governments from the continent and several international invited guests.
The AU was born in 2002 out of the transformation of the Organisation of African Unity which was formed in 1963.
