PRESIDENT Mnangagwa yesterday met a high-level investment delegation from Qatar, led by His Highness Sheik Mansour Bin Jabor Bin Jassim Al Thani, which is exploring possible areas of cooperation across key sectors of Zimbabwe’s economy.
The meeting focused on investment opportunities in agriculture – particularly beef production, irrigation development and livestock production – as well as other priority sectors earmarked for growth.
The Qatar-based delegation represents Al Mansour Holdings, which is currently touring Southern African countries to identify potential partnerships through public-private or private-sector initiatives.
Present at the meeting were Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube; Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu; Attorney-General Mrs Virginia Mabiza; Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya; Mutapa Investment Fund chief executive Dr John Mangudya, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade Mr Albert Chimbindi and other senior Government officials.
The Mutapa Investment Fund is a State-owned entity responsible for managing Zimbabwe’s strategic investments to ensure sustainable economic growth.
The engagement forms part of the Second Republic’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic, economic and strategic cooperation with Qatar, one of the world’s leading oil-rich states.
Sheik Mansour, a distinguished member of the Qatari ruling family, is expected to formalise partnerships and initiate strategic investments in Zimbabwe.
The delegation arrived in the country last week through Victoria Falls, where they were welcomed by Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Richard Moyo.
Their three-day visit is aimed at laying the foundation for deeper bilateral cooperation and reshaping Zimbabwe’s economic trajectory.
Stronger ties between Zimbabwe and Qatar are also expected to boost tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
