Harare, Zimbabwe — President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived at Cresta Lodge to officiate the Inaugural Climate and Health Africa Conference (CHAC 2024).
This landmark event marks Africa’s significant entry into the global dialogue on the critical intersection of climate change and health.
The conference comes at a pivotal moment, addressing the urgent need to confront the detrimental health impacts of climate change across the continent.
Africa faces a disproportionate burden of climate-sensitive diseases, compounded by limited adaptive capacities in many regions. Stakeholders from various sectors are gathering to discuss strategies for enhancing public health resilience and developing sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Organised by the Centre for Sexual Health, HIV and AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) Zimbabwe in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife and the Ministry of Health and Childcare, CHAC 2024 aligns with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes sustainable development and improved health outcomes for all citizens.
The conference will feature a range of discussions, from policy frameworks to practical interventions, aimed at fostering a healthier future in the face of climate challenges.
