HARARE, Zimbabwe — This morning, President Emmerson Mnangagwa will officially open the inaugural Climate and Health Africa Conference (CHAC 2024) at Cresta Lodge in Harare.

The event, hosted by the Centre for Sexual Health, HIV and AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) Zimbabwe, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife and the Ministry of Health and Childcare, aims to address the intersection of climate change and public health across the African continent.

With rising concerns over climate-related health impacts, the conference brings together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for mitigating these challenges. The initiative aligns with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance the nation’s resilience to environmental changes while promoting sustainable health practices.
As the effects of climate change intensify, the importance of such discussions becomes increasingly critical for the future of health and well-being in Africa. The conference is expected to feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops focusing on innovative solutions to promote climate-resilient health systems.
