BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived to officially open the 2024 Zimbabwe Exporters Week today at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) in Bulawayo.
The event, highlights the Government’s commitment to enhancing the nation’s export capabilities. ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organisation is the host, marking a significant gathering for the business community, with over 250 participants in attendance.
The trade development body, established in September 1991 as a joint venture between the private sector and the Government, aims to connect local producers with international buyers to facilitate trade.
This year’s theme, “Qala | Tanga | Start,” emphasises the need to initiate and expand export activities, a goal that resonates with the government’s strategy to diversify both export destinations and products.

International buyers from countries including the United Kingdom, Zambia, Botswana, Angola, South Africa, Mozambique, and Namibia are participating, having already engaged in sector-specific activities such as factory visits and business-to-business meetings. These interactions are expected to forge new business partnerships and export contracts across key sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, leather, construction, engineering, and services.
ZimTrade’s collaboration with private sector partners and development cooperation agencies aims to provide a comprehensive suite of services to assist both first-time and potential exporters in promoting and facilitating the export of their goods and services. The outcomes of this week-long event are anticipated to have a lasting impact on Zimbabwe’s export landscape, fostering deeper collaborations and expanding market access for local enterprises.
