President Mnangagwa has called for intensified domestic tourism campaigns to encourage Zimbabweans to explore the country’s diverse attractions before travelling abroad.
The President said Zimbabweans should develop a culture of travelling locally, taking time to experience the country’s rich natural, cultural and historical heritage with their families and friends.

He said domestic tourism was critical in strengthening the local tourism industry while ensuring that communities and businesses across the country benefited from increased tourist activity.
President Mnangagwa urged Zimbabweans to make use of the country’s numerous tourism attractions, including the iconic Matobo National Park and the surrounding Matopo Hills, which offer scenic landscapes and rich cultural and historical experiences.
He said Zimbabweans should first explore the beauty and attractions within their own country before considering international destinations.
“Go and visit Matopo Hills as a family and friends…” he said.

The President’s call comes as Government continues to position tourism as a key pillar of economic growth and an important contributor to employment creation, investment and community development.
Zimbabwe boasts a wide range of tourism attractions, including the Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park, Matobo National Park and the Eastern Highlands, among others.
Increased domestic tourism is also expected to provide a stable market for tourism operators, particularly during periods when international tourist arrivals are subdued.
The call further dovetails with Government’s broader efforts to promote Zimbabwe as a competitive tourism destination while encouraging citizens to appreciate and preserve the country’s natural and cultural heritage.
The 19th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, currently underway in Masvingo, has provided a platform for tourism stakeholders to showcase the country’s diverse attractions and products to domestic and international markets.
