President Mnangagwa has launched an economic empowerment initiative for the National Multi-Faith Economic Dialogue (NAMFED) meant to financially support previously marginalised communities.

NAMFED affiliates that attended the dialogue’s interfaith convention in Mutare on Sunday, received between US$20 000 and US$50 000 to start small businesses.

President Mnangagwa’s investment advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarara, while addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of multi-faith cooperation in seeking development and escaping poverty.

He said churches and their congregants should benefit from these economic initiatives.

“Today, we seek to break the cycle of poverty and pursue development through interfaith collaboration and economic empowerment,” he said.

“By leveraging revolving funds and promoting good works, we can ensure that faith communities benefit tangibly from their spiritual endeavours.”

He said President Mnangagwa’s empowerment programme seeks to unite and benefit all, regardless of their affiliations, by addressing poverty and promoting development.

“The President’s vision is to empower every individual beyond their community affiliations, recognising that true power lies in unity and collective development,” he said.

“By investing in our people and promoting inclusive growth, we can eliminate divisions and ensure that everyone benefits.”

ZANU-PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, hailed the convention saying it motivates the Government to extend the fund to Mashonaland Central.

“This massive assembly motivates us to move forward with funding for Mashonaland Central,” he said.

“Let us take Vision 2030 further by empowering our communities and driving development.”

NAMFED chief convener, Mr Obey Mapuranga, said faith leaders will continue supporting the President’s leadership and Vision 2030.

“We believe that the spirit of God has ordained the President’s leadership, and we stand in support of his vision for economic development through NAMFED,” he said.

“As a faith community, we pledge to support the President during the upcoming elections and beyond.”
