SADC Chairperson, President Mnangagwa, met Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House in Harare today, with the two leaders engaging in bilateral talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between their countries.
The meeting highlighted shared priorities in regional integration, economic development, peace and security.
Speaking after the meeting, President Mnangagwa said they had excellent discussions.
“We are so happy that our relations are strengthening and continue to deepen, and I am happy that my sister found the opportunity to visit Zimbabwe.
“We are so grateful for her finding the time to come and visit us. It is an honour,” he said.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah, who was accompanied by First Gentleman Lieutenant General Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah, emphasised the great need for trade collaboration.
“What we are discussing here is how best we can facilitate trade between our two countries. The Trans-Kalahari Corridor is one infrastructure that is critical for such trade,” said President Nandi-Ndaitwah.
“In developing this corridor, we are also calling on business people from Namibia, Zimbabwe, and the region to collaborate and make use of this infrastructure,” she said.
This is President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s first official visit to Zimbabwe since assuming office.
