PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has arrived in Masvingo where he will open the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo at Gymkhana Events and Conference Centre.
The expo, which runs until Saturday, is being held in the ancient city of Masvingo in line with the Government’s devolution agenda and rotation of major events.
This is consistent with the Second Republic’s drive of leaving no one and no place behind.
It has been a hive of activity since morning, with exhibitors showcasing their products and services while buyers interacted with stakeholders on possible areas of cooperation.
Buyers have been taken to various tourist attraction centres in Masvingo and surrounding areas to have an appreciation of what Zimbabwe has to offer.
President Mnangagwa was welcomed in Masvingo by Cabinet Ministers, Zanu PF senior leadership, and captains of industry, among others.
The country’s premier tourism showcase has attracted 405 exhibitors and 153 buyers. These include 125 international buyers from major markets such as China, India, Japan, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Several activities have been lined up during the expo, including the September Sports Tourism Carnival, Gastronomy and Music Show Carnival, Gastronomy Masterclass, Events Planners Masterclass, Chief Executive Officers’ Roundtable, Tourism Investment Forum, Scholastica Conference, Back-to-Back Buyer’s Session and Sanganai Awards Ceremony.
Masvingo is home to major tourist attractions, including the internationally famous Great Zimbabwe, Lake Mutirikwi, Tugwi-Mukosi Dam, Kyle Recreational Park and Gonarezhou National Park, which forms part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park.
