PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA left for South Africa on Saturday afternoon to join other South African region leaders at the Liberation Movements Summit, which began yesterday.

The three-day summit, which brings together former liberation movements from Southern Africa, is meant to facilitate strategic deliberations on safeguarding the region’s political legacy and defending its hard-won freedom.

Running under the theme “Defending the liberation gains, advancing integrated socio-economic development, strengthening solidarity for a better Africa”, the indaba will also give leaders a platform to deliberate on tackling rising geopolitical and socio-economic challenges.

Liberation movements participating at the summit are hosts and chair ANC of South Africa, ZANU PF of Zimbabwe, MPLA of Angola, SWAPO of Namibia, FRELIMO of Mozambique and CCM of Tanzania.

President Mnangagwa was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi; Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri; Information Media, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere, service chiefs and other senior Government officials.
