President Mnangagwa has met various indigenous and pentecostal church leaders who took time to congratulate him for his victory and that of the ruling Zanu PF party during the past August 23 harmonised elections.
The church leaders from Roman Catholic, Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe, Vapostori and Zion4ED, Lutheran, African Apostolic Church Mwazha were led by Zimbabwe Indigenous Inter-Denominational Council of Churches (ZIIC) chairman Reverend Andrew Wutawunashe.

Speaking after meeting the church leaders today at State House in Harare, President Mnangagwa said he was humbled by the presence of the men of the cloth challenging them to organize a National Day of Prayer before the year ends.
“As Government, if you are leading a nation that is Christian, what else do you want? All that is left is for you to create a philosophy which makes everybody feel they have a responsibility to build their own country.

“I was talking to your leadership that if possible, before the end of year, let us look for another day to hold a national prayer. We will be consulting with them so that we hold it in November or early December,” he said.
Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, Vapostori and Zion4ED national executive chairperson Madzibaba Moses Gwasira were among the church leaders in attendance.
