President Mnangagwa to preside over LSU 16th graduation ceremony

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa will this Friday preside over the Lupane State University’s 16th graduation ceremony at the main campus in Lupane, Matabeleland North Province.

Established in 2004, LSU has an enrollment of 4 000 students with over 70 programmes in six facilities.

The faculties are Agricultural Sciences, Environmental and Life Sciences, Commerce, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Built Environment.

The university employs a staff complement of over 600 and operates from its main campus in Lupane.

Thousands of graduands are already seated at the main venue of the graduation ceremony, while family and friends of the graduands are trickling in their thousands.

Notable figures among graduands at LSU graduation Ceremony

The Friday graduation ceremony at Lupane State University will see several prominent figures receiving their degrees.

Among the notable graduates are politicians Cde Emmanuel Sunduza, the Zanu PF Bulawayo Province Secretary for Security, and Cde Brian Samuriwo, the Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson for Business Development.

In addition to political leaders, other distinguished graduates include Mr Mqhele Tshuma, the Communications Manager for the Press Radio and Arts Zimbabwe (PRAZ), and Mr Benkosi Maphosa, a local media personality.

President Mnangagwa arrives in Bulawayo, flies to Lupane State University for graduation ceremony

President Mnangagwa has touched down at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport en route to Lupane State University in Matabeleland North Province, for the institution’s graduation ceremony.

He was welcomed by the Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Judith Ncube, ZANU-PF Bulawayo province chairman Cde Jabulani Sibanda, youth chairman Cde Freedom Muchero, Central Committee members, other provincial leaders and service Chiefs.

Soon after disembarking, the President, who is the Chancellor of all State universities, immediately boarded a helicopter destined to Lupane.

Chief Dakamela, born Mbusi Bhekithemba Dakamela, of Nkayi is set to graduate at the Lupane State University ceremony taking place this Friday in Lupane.

His participation highlights the diverse range of students at the university, blending traditional leadership with academic achievement.

The graduation marks an important milestone in Chief Dakamela’s educational journey.

Also set to graduate this afternoon is Zanu-PF Bulawayo Province chairperson for business development Cde Brian Samuriwo.

Zanu-PF Bulawayo Province secretary for security Cde Emmanuel Sunduza is also among the graduands at the Lupane State University graduation ceremony.

This Friday afternoon, the President will officially confer degrees on 1,558 graduands, marking a significant milestone for the institution and its students.

Stellar achievements highlight Lupane State University graduation ceremony

Several students were recognized for their outstanding academic and community achievements, at the LSU graduation ceremony.

Primrose Prestigious Dube graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Animal Science and Rangeland Management.

She earned the prestigious Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Chancellor’s Award of US$1,000 as the best overall female graduating student.

In addition, Primrose received multiple accolades including the Hwange Colliery Company Limited Award for the best student in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Old Mutual Prize for excellence in Animal Science and Rangeland Management, and the Profeeds Award for the best student in Animal Nutrition. She also secured the Vice Chancellor’s Award and the Lupane State University (LSU) Book Prize.

Dumisani Munkuli

Dumisani Munkuli graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Economics and was honored with the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Chancellor’s Award of US$1,000 for the best male graduating student. He also received the Vice Chancellor’s Award and the LSU Book Prize.

Prince Ngwenya

Highlighting community engagement, Prince Ngwenya, a former Zimpapers intern, was awarded the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Award of US$500 for making the most significant community impact from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

President Mnangagwa has officially declared the conclusion of the Lupane State University (LSU) graduation ceremony.

The event celebrated the achievements of over 1,500 graduands.
