President Mnangagwa Tours BYD Auto in Shenzhen, China, as Part of FOCAC 2024 Initiatives

Shenzhen, China— President Emmerson Mnangagwa has visited BYD Auto, a leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, during his tour of China ahead of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) 2024.


BYD Auto, a subsidiary of BYD Company Limited, specialises in battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, positioning itself at the forefront of the global shift towards sustainable transportation.

 

This visit highlights Zimbabwe’s commitment to embracing new technologies and renewable energy sources as outlined in its Vision 2030 plan, which aims for a middle-income economy. The collaboration with BYD could pave the way for enhanced automotive manufacturing capabilities in Zimbabwe, fostering economic growth and job creation.

As the demand for electric vehicles rises globally, President Mnangagwa’s engagement with Chinese manufacturers underscores the importance of international partnerships in achieving Zimbabwe’s developmental goals.
