President Mnangagwa has officially opened the 8th meeting of the International Solar Alliance Regional Committee for the Africa Region that is currently underway in Victoria Falls.
In his virtual address, the President highlighted the need for African countries to transform their solar energy potential into wealth.
“The time to convert Africa’s enormous solar potential into projects that deliver measurable development outcomes is now.
“I call upon us to deliberately set out sound policies, effective institutions, appropriate technical standards, transparent procurement systems and reliable electricity infrastructure to realise this objective,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said Africa’s energy transition must be just and inclusive, leaving no one and no place behind.
“We all have a responsibility to empower the women and young people of our continent as central participants in the ongoing transition,” said President Mnangagwa.
Over 45 countries, development partners and industry leaders are attending the meeting.
