President off to Singapore for check-up

in January. Presidential spokesperson, Mr George Charamba yesterday said it was a routine, scheduled check-up.
“The President has had to go back to the optometrist for his final check-up and this follows the small procedure done to him to counter a cataract problem,” he said.
Mr Charamba said President Mugabe was expected back home on Sunday.
“It is a matter of medical formality and there is nothing to cause any alarm.
“Because we are talking of the President of Zimbabwe, the experts would want to ensure that things are proceeding as per the rule of the book.
“The President is not likely to be detained and we are expecting him on Sunday,” he said.
