SOUTH African President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday arrived in Zimbabwe on a private visit during which he toured the First Family’s Pricabe Farm in Kwekwe in the Midlands Province.
He touched down at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport shortly after 10AM and was received by President Mnangagwa before the two leaders left for Kwekwe for the tour.
A seasoned businessman and farmer in his own right, President Ramaphosa showed keen interest in the farming operations, particularly the livestock section.
While inspecting the cattle, he was overheard expressing admiration for the scale and organisation of the project, remarking: “I will come here more.”
Pricabe Farm has increasingly become a point of reference for high-level agricultural visits, attracting current and former regional leaders keen to appreciate the First Family’s farming models.
Among those who have previously toured the farm are former Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi and former Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, both of whom were impressed by the level of productivity and integration of operations.
President Ramaphosa’s visit also highlights deepening bilateral ties between Zimbabwe and South Africa, particularly in agriculture, trade and investment. As one of the region’s largest economies, South Africa remains a key partner, and exchanges of this nature are often seen as opportunities to share best practices and strengthen cooperation in food production and agribusiness.
