President Mnangagwa has today received a report on Harare City Council local governance issues, which was conducted by a Commission of Inquiry led by retired High Court judge, Justice Maphios Cheda.
The inquiry was meant to investigate issues of corporate governance, financial prudence, and adherence to local governance laws and policies, among others.
The Commission, which was established in terms of Section 2 (1) of the Commission of Enquiry Act, held public hearings in which it invited several stakeholders, including serving council officials and those who had left council employment, including those who served as mayors.
During the hearings, several allegations of financial malfeasance, corruption and failure to adhere to corporate governance issues emerged.
President Mnangagwa is expected to study the report that is expected to guide him in the next course of action.
