The ZANU PF Matabeleland South Provincial leadership has reaffirmed last year’s National Conference resolution, calling on President Mnangagwa to lead the party and Government until 2030.
As part of this endeavour, the party’s province is holding a series of feedback meetings across the seven administrative districts to ensure that the resolutions are followed and implemented with precision.
Led by provincial chairperson Cde Mangaliso Ndlovu, the province has successfully concluded meetings in Insiza, Gwanda, and Beitbridge, engaging with grassroots structures throughout.
During an inter-district meeting in Beitbridge on Saturday, attended by leaders from the 31 party districts, Cde Ndlovu highlighted the primary goal of these meetings – facilitating interaction with local leaders and gathering insights on the party’s state but most importantly to ensure provincial consensus on extending the President’s term beyond 2028.
“We are here to provide feedback on the 162 resolutions from the 21st National Conference, particularly to affirm that our first resolution—requesting our President, Dr ED Mnangagwa, to lead the party and the Government until 2030 has been successful,” said Cde Ndlovu.
He expressed his satisfaction with the feedback received from community members, which has provided clarity on the challenges facing grassroots structures and the necessary actions to be taken.
“We will reconvene as leadership to address the issues raised,” Cde Ndlovu assured party supporters.
He called on party members to unite, stressing the need for a collective effort to regain control of urban councils where the party underperformed in the last elections.
Cde Ndlovu also noted the importance of honouring the late Vice President, Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo, by declaring July 1 a public holiday.
He acknowledged community challenges including poor road conditions and inadequate mobile network coverage and assured that the leadership would engage relevant Ministers for urgent solutions.
He reiterated the significance of teamwork among ZANU PF members to ensure the full implementation of the resolutions from the 21st National Conference.
“With our two-thirds majority in Parliament, we must leverage this strength for the benefit of all Zimbabweans.”
Cde Ndlovu highlighted the ongoing water crisis in Beitbridge, where some suburbs have reportedly gone without running water for three days. He stated that the issue would take priority for urgent resolution.
The party provincial leader also condemned traditional and community leaders who engage in the illegal sale of communal land, warning that those involved should expect severe consequences.
