ZIMBABWE’S number one soccer fan President Mugabe has questioned Zimbabwe Warriors’ Cosafa goalkeeper   Max Nyamupanedengu’s agility after the Harare City goal-minder let in two simple goals in the final against Zambia last Saturday. The President opened up on the Warriors performance during a rally in Norton this week.
“Bhora ririkupinda mugedhi here? Haa, kwete kuita semaWarriors akamwiswa zviviri. Zviviri, haiwa referee hapana zvaakambotadza akanga asiri mapenalties futi. (Is the ball going into the nets? Haa let us not do like the Warriors who let in  two goals. Two goals and the referee did                              nothing wrong because those were not penalties at all), said the President in part of his speech.

“Bhora rinorohwa kubva kure kure, aha, ndakati goalkeeper wedu akaita sei? Asi arikuregerera kuti havazvione? Achiri wedu here kana kuti dzimwe nguva zvakamukanganisawo. (The ball is kicked from afar, and I said what is wrong with our goalkeeper? Is he letting in the goals   on purpose thinking that it will not be seen? Is he still ours or sometimes he gets confused?

A brilliantly struck goal by Alex Ng’ongo early in the first half and another one from substitute Kabaso Chongo in injury time saw the Zambians deny Zimbabwe a fifth Cosafa title.

Ironically, when Max’s surname is literally translated it means “one who gives with abandon”.
The former St Bernard’s High School pupil has since been dropped by new Warriors coach Ian Gorowa for the Chan qualifier away to Mauritius tomorrow. — Sports Reporter/Harare Bureau.
