Presidential food scheme rolls out in Bulawayo

“Pumula constituency received four tonnes of rice and wheat under the Presidential Food Scheme meant to cushion vulnerable groups from the effects of drought,” said Mr Magura.

Speaking at the same occasion, Zanu-PF National Assembly candidate for Pumula Cde Godfrey Malaba, urged party members to campaign peacefully despite provocation and hate speech that they might encounter.

“We have launched our door-to -door campaign in which we urge our party members to comply with President Mugabe’s call to adopt a culture of non-violence.
“We know that you may face stiff challenges and extreme provocation during this period, but l urge you to remain calm for peaceful elections to take place,” said Cde Malaba.

He said the food would be given to the wards for transparency after which it would be distributed to the needy.
Today the handover of the foodstuffs would move to Luveve constituency and the venue would be Cowdray Park terminus at 10am while for Lobengula     constituency the distribution would be at 2pm at Njube Shopping Centre.

Tomorrow the exercise would be taken to Mpopoma-Pelandaba constituency and the venue would be Mpopoma Youth Arena at 10am. Orphanages that include John Smale, Mastered Seed, King George, Sir Humphrey Gibbs, Rawlstein Home and Qinisani would receive 50kg of rice and 50kg of wheat each.
