President’s birthday bash date set

THE Zanu-PF Youth League has set February 23 this year as the date for the 21st February Movement celebrations to commemorate the birthday and life of President Mugabe.President Mugabe was born on February 21, 1924. He will be turning 90 this year.

Zanu-PF secretary for youth affairs Absalom Sikhosana said in Harare on yesterday: “We’re going to be in Marondera, Rudhaka Stadium on Sunday, February 23, 2013.

“As for the theme, we’re saying Zim Asset: Growing the Economy for Youth Empowerment and Employment. This is a very loaded theme.
“It covers a very wide spectrum of youth issues. We felt it was fitting because young people are looking for empowerment, young people are looking for employment, they are coming from institutions of higher learning after having completed their programmes of study and they expect to get employment.”

Sikhosana said the League was targeting to raise between $700,000 and $1 million for the celebrations.
He said the celebrations would be big, highlighting that attaining the age of 90 was a special achievement for President Mugabe.

“This is a very special celebration. Turning 90 is no mean feat. You can only turn 90 if you’re very disciplined like His Excellency our President,” he said.

Sikhosana warned rogue party members against swindling people of their money whilst pretending to be fundraising for the 21st February Movement celebrations. – New Ziana
