Pretty Xaba doing well ahead of surgery: Mafundikwa

Former Studio 263 actress Pretty Xaba who is in India is still under chemo and radiation therapy while she waits for surgery. Xaba, who left the country last month after receiving $18 000 from Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) founder Prophet Walter Magaya to supplement the $2 400 raised by fellow artistes and a further $1 900 donated by a women’s club Dare Remadzimai is said to be in a stable condition now.

In an interview, co-ordinator of the Let’s Help Pretty Xaba campaign Taonga Mafundikwa said Xaba was responding well to treatment.
“Pretty is a strong person. Though she is still waiting to undergo the surgery, I can confirm that she is doing fine. Last week was her birthday and from the pictures sent to us, we could see that she is happy and that her condition has improved,” he said.

Mafundikwa said the surgery and treatment will take at least two and a half months meaning the actress will be back home early next year.
Xaba is accompanied by her niece Noma Xaba.

An emaciated Xaba grabbed headlines as a pale shadow of the bubbly “NakaSithabile”, who starred as wife to the late Nevernay Chinyanga popularly known as Muwengwa in one of Zimbabwe’s most popular soapies, Studio 263, after was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in the oesophagus in July this year.

She also featured in a number of local dramas including “Xola”, “Coliwe”, Tsitsi Dangarembga’s “I Want a Dress”, “Everyone’s Child” and “Lobola”.
She also had several roles in a number of radio productions and did educational videos for a number of organisations.
