ZIMBABWE international striker Prince Dube has been linked with a potential return to the South African Premier Soccer League, with Kaizer Chiefs reportedly showing interest in signing him in the next transfer window.

Presently playing for Tanzanian giants Yanga SC, Dube has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 11 goals to top the scoring charts in the Tanzanian Premier League. 

His remarkable performances have caught the eye of Chiefs, who are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.

According to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs scouts have been closely monitoring Dube’s progress and are increasingly focused on bringing the Zimbabwe international back to South Africa. 

An unnamed source told Soccer Laduma that while Chiefs have been eyeing other potential targets such as Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele, these options appear difficult to secure. As a result, the club has shifted its attention to Dube, who has been impressing in Tanzania.

“Prince looks like the most promising option at the moment. The other strikers they have been eyeing seem tough to get, which is why focus has moved to Dube. He’s also performing well for Yanga,” said the source.

Dube has previously played in South Africa for SuperSport United, gaining valuable experience in the local top-flight. His goal-scoring prowess in Tanzania has certainly made him an attractive proposition for Chiefs, and a return to South Africa could be on the cards for the striker.

Dube has not only been a standout in the Tanzanian league but also helped his team, Young Africans, secure a dominant 5-0 win over Mashujaa last weekend, scoring the second goal in the 49th minute. This performance further cemented his status as one of the league’s most prolific players.

Dube’s consistency has been a key factor in Yanga’s success this season, with his goals helping the team maintain their lead at the top of the Tanzanian Premier League table.

The striker’s excellent form comes at a crucial time for the Zimbabwe Warriors, as the national team prepares for the upcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Dube’s experience in international football, coupled with his form at Yanga, makes him an invaluable asset for the Warriors.

Having joined Yanga in July 2024 from Azam FC after a contract dispute, Dube’s journey has not been without controversy.

The dispute with Azam even reached the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF), but the striker eventually secured his move on the condition that he paid a hefty fee, as Azam believed he still had two years left on his contract.

At Yanga, Dube agreed to a two-year contract, which will keep him at the club until July 2026. 

However, his impressive form has now put him on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs, with the South African club evaluating him as a potential signing.

Dube finds himself in a tight race for the Golden Boot in Tanzania, with 11 goals to his name, alongside teammate Clement Mzize and Jean Ahoua of Simba SC. As the season progresses, Dube’s performances will be critical for both Yanga and the Warriors as they aim for glory.

The potential move to Chiefs would mark a return to familiar territory for the striker, whose goal-scoring abilities could provide a significant boost to the club’s attacking options next season.
